Doc’s Kingdom the Debates 2002
I have liked documentaries for a long time, and here in the seminar, seeing these films, listening to the discussions I realised why they are gaining more and more momentum, becoming more interesting than the fiction genre. Documentary is something that is supposed to capture or portray reality but it goes beyond the original intention of the creator, because reality is beyond one’s control. So, the finished film often deviates from the original intention or even goes against that original intention.

docs.pt Magazine

docs.pt 03
June / 2006
The third issue of docs.pt reflects the magazine’s new editorial structure. Highlights of this issue include a dossier on ten years of documentary films in Portugal, with transcripts of a round table organized by docs.pt, which reconsiders questions raised in 1999, in a debate currently organized by Apordoc and by the Portuguese Cinematheque about new Portuguese documentary film. Seven years later, docs.pt invited six documentary makers to discuss the changes and to debate new problems. This issue also contains an article on "Working Notes" by the cinematographer João Ribeiro, an article entitled "Walking in Tokyo" by the Finnish documentary maker Pirjo Honkasalo about her film “HONGAKU”, and an analysis of the documentary "Still Life", made by Susana de Sousa Dias.
